Our Core Privacy Guarantee
AskTechAdvisor Email Cleaner is 100% free forever. It runs client-side in your browser via official Google and Microsoft OAuth 2.0 authorization, meaning your email bodies are never stored, logged, or monetized. All optical screenshot tools operate 100% on-device in your browser.
1. Introduction & Who We Are
Welcome to AskTechAdvisor ("we", "our", or "us"), accessible at https://asktechadvisor.com. We provide practical technical troubleshooting guides, diagnostics calculators, and client-side mailbox optimization tools (including the AskTechAdvisor Email Cleaner).
We believe user privacy should not be a compromise. This Privacy Policy describes how we handle information when you visit our website, read our guides, or utilize our interactive diagnostic tools.
2. Google API Services User Data Policy Compliance & Limited Use
AskTechAdvisor's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
How We Access and Use Google User Data:
- Requested Scope: We request the minimum necessary OAuth scope (
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.modifyand basic profile verification) solely to query message header metadata (size in bytes, sender email domain, date, subject line) and to execute user-requested batch deletion (moving selected emails to your native Gmail Trash). - Client-Side Execution: All scanning, categorizing, duplicate detection, and size sorting occur exclusively in your browser's local memory.
- Zero Server Storage: Your email bodies, message content, and personal communications are never sent to, stored on, logged by, or cached on our servers.
- No Data Selling or Sharing: We do not sell, rent, trade, or transfer your Google user data or email metadata to third-party data brokers, advertisers, or aggregators.
- No Advertising Use: We do not use Google user data to serve targeted, retargeted, or interest-based advertisements.
- No AI Training on Email Data: We do not use Google user data to train generalized artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
- No Human Reading: No human at AskTechAdvisor reads your emails. The only potential exception would be if you explicitly give us affirmative consent in writing to review a specific diagnostic log for user-requested technical support.
3. Microsoft OAuth 2.0 (Outlook & Microsoft 365)
When connecting an Outlook or Microsoft 365 mailbox, AskTechAdvisor utilizes official Microsoft OAuth 2.0 PKCE authentication. Tokens are retained strictly in your browser session storage. No Microsoft email contents or credentials are ever stored on AskTechAdvisor infrastructure.
4. On-Device Diagnostic Tools (Storage & Battery Checkers)
Our interactive diagnostic tools (such as the iPhone Storage Checker and Battery Drain Troubleshooter) process uploaded screenshots 100% on your device using client-side WebAssembly Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and HTML5 Canvas.
Your screenshots and photos are never transmitted over the internet or uploaded to any server. When you close or refresh your browser tab, the image memory is purged immediately.
5. Information We Collect Automatically
Like almost all websites, when you visit AskTechAdvisor, standard web server logs may record basic network data:
- Anonymized IP address and general geographic region (country/city level).
- Browser type, operating system version, and device type.
- Referring URL, pages visited, and timestamps.
This standard operational data is used strictly for server health monitoring, security DDoS protection, and ensuring fast page loads.
6. Cookies & Local Browser Storage
AskTechAdvisor uses minimal local browser storage:
- Session Storage: Holds temporary OAuth state tokens while your Email Cleaner browser session is active.
- Preferences: Remembers your view preferences (such as list vs. compact layout).
We do not use invasive cross-site third-party tracking cookies or fingerprinting scripts.
7. Data Retention & How to Revoke Access
Because AskTechAdvisor operates as a stateless client application:
- Immediate Local Deletion: Clicking "Disconnect" or "Sign Out" inside Email Cleaner instantly wipes all authorization tokens and cached message indices from your browser memory.
- Google Account Permissions Revocation: You can revoke AskTechAdvisor's access at any moment via your official Google Security Settings: https://myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Microsoft Account Permissions Revocation: You can revoke access anytime via Microsoft Account Apps & Services.
- Trash Safety Window: Emails moved to the trash folder through Email Cleaner follow your email provider's standard 30-day reversible trash policy before permanent purge.
8. Your Privacy Rights (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and CalOPPA)
Under global data privacy laws including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), you have rights regarding your personal information:
- Right to Know & Access: You have the right to request what personal information is processed. Because we store zero email data on our servers, there is no database of personal information to provide.
- Right to Erasure / Deletion: You can purge all session data at any time by closing your browser tab or clicking Sign Out.
- Right to Opt-Out of Sale: We do not sell your personal data. We will never sell your personal data.
- Non-Discrimination: We provide identical free service regardless of your privacy choices.
9. Security Safeguards
We implement industry-standard technical security protocols:
- HTTPS/TLS 1.3 encryption across all website pages and API endpoints.
- OAuth 2.0 with PKCE (Proof Key for Code Exchange) to prevent code interception.
- Direct client-to-API communication directly between your browser and Google/Microsoft endpoints.
10. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
AskTechAdvisor is directed to general audiences and is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children.
